Tonia Crittenden


Tonia is a Certified Play Therapist with more than 18 years of professional therapy experience within community agencies, hospitals, paediatric hospice, grief and bereavement programs, wilderness therapy programs, therapeutic camps and more than 8 years experience in private practice specializing in Play Therapy.

Tonia is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists (OACCPP) and Play Therapy International (PTI). Tonia obtained her Masters of Arts Degree in Play Therapy from Canterbury Christ Church University in England and a Bachelors Degree in Recreation Therapy with a specialization in Wilderness Therapy at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec.  Tonia has also completed Graduate Certificates in Filial Play Therapy and Clinical Supervision for Play and Creative Art Therapists.  Tonia completed the Train the Trainer courses with the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy accrediting her to teach at the Graduate level in Play Therapy.

As Executive Director of Play Therapy Canada, Tonia has represented Canada at the International level in Play Therapy, and most recently attended the World Congress in Africa as the Canadian Delegate selected by Play Therapy International.
Tonia is the Program Director of Graduate Studies in Play Therapy, Faculty of Psychotherapy at Adler Graduate School, Toronto and instructs within the program.
